Trump Base Seems Clueless About What Has Transpired The past 3½ Years

While running a few errands this past Thursday (10/15/20) I listened to a bit of Rush Limbaugh's radio program and he had one listener/caller say some stuff that I classify as "whack-a-doodle" and vowed on the spot to write about her comments here. First, to be fair and ensure I captured exactly the woman's comments, I accessed elRushbo's website & his transcripts [link to Rush's segment he identifies as "What’s Wrong with Suburban Women?" ]

Caller: "I am a white, educated, suburban woman. And I support the president 100 percent. And while I do know other women like me, I think that the issue is that many of these other women who say they don’t like his tweets or his rhetoric and how he says things, that they’re looking for someone that’s just going to make them feel better. They’re much more self-centered and looking their life alone, and they don’t like the way Trump says things. Instead, they need to be looking at what Trump is actually doing. The old saying of actions speak louder than words. Trump is absolutely a person where you can look and see what he has done more than what he says."

After a little banter between Rush & the "caller" she continues to explain:

"You know, I was not a supporter of Trump to start with. I thought he was kind of pompous, and I didn’t particularly care for him. But as the debates were going on in the primary, my husband and I kept saying, “Oh, my gosh. We agree with Trump more than anyone ... for these past three and a half years, the things that he has done have just been incredible."

Incredible is not how I'd explain it. Instantly I was reminded of something Rachel Maddow often says: "pay less attention to what he says, watch what he does."

Like... such as,

Southern border crossing - the issue of separating over 1,100 families since June of 2018 when courts ordered the Trump administration to STOP the practice and end their "zero tolerance policy" of taking children away from their parents. Yes, you read that correctly....1,100 additional separations AFTER they were told to stop. And, countless children remain separated and still not united with parents or their guardian. In my opinion this is the most egregious act of evil that Trump's guilty of...I'd love to hear how Limbaugh or his caller mentioned above would try to explain this. If it were possible to forget all other issues and flaws demonstrated by Trump and his administration...and evaluate his performance on this one issue alone, I'd say Trump, Jeff Sessions, Stephen Miller, and others oughta' be in jail. They turned countless innocent children into orphans instantly - and I say "countless" because the Trump administration says they kept no records. [source

UPDATE 10.21.20:  Two well-respected journalists with NBC News, Julia Ainsley and Jacob Soboroff, reported yesterday that "Lawyers say they can't find the parents of 545 migrant children separated by Trump administration".   As I mentioned above, set aside all of the other issues related to Trump's single term in the White House, this news should prompt every American voter to select Biden in our national election November 3rd.  Even his family and staff should bail on the guy, and when votes are tallied, Joe Biden will be our next president (official vote tally should be something like Biden 186,669,276 vs. Trump 1 ... yes, one vote, likely his own. (And yes, the total vote is my projection ... roughly 50-million more votes than 2016 when Hillary won the popular vote by nearly 3 million ballots ... a fact that drove Trump absolutely crazy all through his term of office.)

Incompetence - Pandemic - Trump is guilty of lying to the American public (about many things) like the seriousness of the pandemic. Trump's total failure has cost tens of thousands of American lives, and it did not need to happen. Same with the impact on the economy - we can blame Trump for the bulk of the closures of small businesses, the loss of jobs, property, homes, and more. Team Trump ignored all the preparation for pandemics developed by previous administrations and their own health experts at HHS, CDC, and other agencies.  Team Trump ignored the advise of scientists in various government agencies, and battled with the nation's governors creating much of the divisiveness we now struggle with as a nation, rather than leading the country toward solutions. [source]

Lawlessness - Dozens of indictments have been filed against members of his staff, several have been found guilty of crimes and violating federal & state laws.  (In contrast to the previous administration which had ZERO indictments over 8-yrs.)  Many of Trump's cabinet and various appointees have literally flown out the revolving door as we've experienced more firings, terminations, resignations than any administration in history. National debt - the fiscal year just ended September 30th and our budget deficit grew to a record high under Trump's watch: $3.1 trillion. This brings total nation debt to $21 trillion...greater than our gross national product. [source]

Any reasonable, rational person could add hundreds of additional examples of Trump actions that have destroyed our economy, and has in many cases caused significant loss of life in America and abroad, and ruined our standing on the world stage. His actions AND his words have wrecked havoc on most every aspect of the things he touches. Rush Limbaugh's caller and the rest of the Trump base of voters are wrong - it's not a matter of opinion - its not a policy disagreement - Trump's actions and his words have caused this, and he needs to be removed from office as quickly as possible and prosecuted for his crimes.

updated: 10.21.20  Apparently Rush Limbaugh mentioned on his Monday broadcast that his lung cancer has "some progression" and that he views his condition as terminal.  As much as I dislike the guy's politics, I'm sorry to hear the news.  Perhaps this could present an opportunity however for Mr. Trump ... a job vacancy that could keep him in the limelight while he's battling assorted legal matters after January 20, 2021.  The real question is whether or not the state of Florida will honor an extradition order from the state of New York.
