Difficult Communicating With People When They've Buried Their Heads In Sand

... or, perhaps buried it in something a bit nastier.

Rather than just complain about the segment of our population who ignore facts & truth ... preferring to believe in assorted conspiracy theories and disinformation ... it's probably best if we all devoted a little more time to staying informed & current ... and not accept opposing ideas that are not rooted in fact.  The idea here is to provide you with a tool ... something you can print and tape to your kitchen refrigerator door ... or some such highly visible spot which will surely stimulate a lively conversation.  And, being the realist that I am, I totally get it when the 1st "reality check" gets ripped from the 'fridge and tossed in trash, or torn-up into itty-bitty 'lil pieces. That's why I'm giving you multiple slides - because the reality is our economy is doing far better than we were doing during the previous regime of incompetence.  Yep.  I said incompetent ... like Trump's fractured, failed response to COVID ... lives lost.  So go for: plaster these factually based slides, heck, maybe multiple copies ... you can always tape one to the bathroom mirror, the dashboard of their car or truck.  Toss a copy in the mailbox and let your unsuspecting MAGA loving lunatic have a real fit of rage (thinking perhaps your postal carrier is contributing to the re-education process).  Be creative!  And as time allows please do share with us the reactions you're getting and any tips that other people on Earth One can use to combat ignorance.

As Axios says on their web-based news source, election polling is often skewed by the way a question is presented.  The radical right wing faction loves to point out how unhappy voters are with the economy.  But how do voters really feel about their personal financial situation?  Oh, that's a different matter, voters say ... overwhelmingly Americans are pretty pleased with their current situation. 63% of voters recently polled went on to indicate: "oh, yeah, the economy may suck for some.  But not here - I'm doing fine, thanks.  Paying bills including reducing personal debt - even socking away a few bucks for retirement."  And, get this: the statement you just read can be backed up with facts and data.  Naturally I recommend that you read the report for yourself ... but just to wet your appetite for accurate, factual information, here's a taste from Axios: "Why it matters: That's in spite of dour views among certain subsets of the country — and in contrast to consumer sentiment polls that remain stubbornly weak, partly because of the lingering effects of 2022's inflation. The Axios ... has found that when asked about their own financial condition, or that of their local community, Americans are characteristically optimistic."  [Link]

posted 01.19.24 .... feeling more optimistic than normal, that yes, we can defeat the Authoritarian Cult.  We must.
